Healthy Summer Meals Make a Huge Impact!

After Meal Program Cuts, Crossroads Feeds Texas Students

Field days, proms, graduations—they’re all behind us now. For many, it’s the start of summer fun. But for thousands of Texas families, it’s the start of something harder.

Out-of-school-time is the hungriest time of year.

That’s something we see firsthand every single day. Right here in our warehouse, we watch moms, dads, seniors, and children come in to shop for their groceries. And what we hear—again and again—is that the cost of living keeps going up, but the support just isn’t keeping pace.

“I Know How to Stretch a Dollar… But I Shouldn’t Have to Stretch My Kids’ Meals.”

That’s what Miss Tonya Marisol told us. She’s a mother of two, a caregiver, a neighbor, and someone who’s always done everything right.

Tonya grew up in Southern Dallas. She still lives on the same street where she used to play as a kid. But lately, things have shifted. Prices are up. Shelves are emptier. And the cuts to federal summer meal programs—$450 million worth—hit her family directly.

She’s not looking for charity. She’s looking for fairness. And she’s not alone.

Most of the folks we serve are working—sometimes one job, sometimes two or three. They're doing everything they can, but still can’t make the numbers work. Rent’s covered... and that’s about it.

We’ve Set a Goal: $20,000 to Feed Families This Summer

This initiative isn’t just about food—it’s about dignity.

We know that kids learn better when they’re nourished. We know that people heal better when they have access to fresh food. And we know that community means nothing if we’re not showing up for one another.

Right now, we’re seeing more need than ever. That’s why we’re expanding. That’s why we’re stepping up.

Every dollar you give helps put groceries into the hands of families who just need a little breathing room.

You can make your donation by clicking here or using the button below.  Thank you for ensuring our families and their children start the next school year well-nourished and ready to learn.

Every dollar makes a difference—and every meal brings relief to a family.

$250 → Provides 1,000 meals to students and families over the summer

$100 → Delivers 400 meals to kids who’ve lost access to school lunches

$50 → Supplies 200 meals to local pantries serving working families

$25 → Ensures 100 meals for neighbors in need

Other → Give what you can—every bit helps keep shelves full and bellies nourished

What Your Gift Can Do This Summer

Our Mission Is Evolving—Because the Need Is Growing

We’re proud to announce a new concept opening soon at the Shops at Redbird—a nutrition pharmacy where patients with chronic conditions like diabetes or cancer can access fresh food, referred by their doctors.

This is healthcare. This is community care. And it all connects back to what we’ve been doing at Crossroads for over 24 years.

“Sometimes, patients can’t afford fresh food because they have to pay for life-saving treatment. We want to remove that barrier.” — Benaye Wadkins Chambers, CEO

You’ve Helped Families Like Tonya’s. Let’s Help More.

Just in these past weeks, your support helped Tonya make it through spring break. Her kids were home, school meals weren’t available, and everything felt uncertain. That pantry bag? It meant peace of mind—and food on the table.

She’s standing tall now. Giving back. Helping others!

That’s the ripple effect we believe in.

Our Goal: $20,000 by May 23, 2025

Every dollar matters.

Every meal is a step forward.
