“I’ve never been to a food pantry before today,” Sheila said the day we met her.
She says she was driving by Crossroads when she noticed a line of people waiting to receive food, so she decided to stop and learn more about the service and discovered she qualified to receive food from the pantry.
“Because of the pandemic there are so many people needing help who aren’t used to this,” Sheila says. “I’m not used to this.”
Sheila has a 5-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son. She says though she grew up in the area, her family had been living in Missouri until the COVID-19 pandemic hit and she was laid off.
“I moved back so I could lean on family for support until I can get a new job,” she says.
Shelia doesn’t know how she would have fed her family had she not happened on Crossroads.
“Thank you so much to everyone for making this possible,” she says. “Thank you to the donors, the volunteers, everyone for sharing their resources and services.”
Sheila is just one of many neighbors who will be able to put nutritious food on the table this summer thanks to your generous support.
